Snapshots: Halloween

Today is Halloween and I am cowgirl.

Here's my getup.

Yeehaw!

I'm not an authentic cowgirl by any means.
I'm missing a proper hat, holster.
and bandana.

But I'm cowgirl enough.

I enjoy the excuse to wear my embroidered dress
and some good ol' cowboy boots.

This morning
I organized a Halloween potluck for my work peeps,
and had a fun time with the decor.

Maybe a little too much fun. :)

Tonight Travis and I plan on laying low,
watching a scary movie and handing out candy to the
neighborhood ghosts and goblins, just like last year
Sounds perfect to me!

Happy Halloween friends!

XOXO

Nursery: Boy or Girl

We find out TODAY if we are having a boy or a girl!!
I could barely sleep last night because I was just so excited.
The anticipation is killing me!

As excited as I am to start the fun task of decorating the nursery,
I have refrained from brainstorming too much until we find out the sex.
But last night I just couldn't resist the temptation!

I found these two gorgeous nurseries & they just melted my heart.

For a girl:

I'm in love with the whimsical feel of this lil' girls room.
The tissue paper puffs on the ceiling are my favorite.

I like the idea of keeping the walls neutral,
and punching up the color with fabric and furniture accents.

For a boy:

I am a big fan of blue and orange.
I felt like white furniture was more a girls room thing,
but I like how this room has the white furniture and it still feels very much boy.
Or at lease gender neutral. Which I am a fan of too.

Wall art.
I love the "Oh the Places You Will Go" wall art in the above pic.
And this cool piece below.

I plan on getting out my paint brushes and adding
some fun personal touches to this nursery.

I want to create an inspiring and fun, yet restful space for all of us to be in.
And I'm sooo excited to get started!

Right now the soon-to-be-nursery is my art studio.
And well, it has a ton of stuff in it.
Large and small used and unused canvases.
Easles. (Yes, multiple easles.)
A huge antique wooden drafting table circa 1945.
Paint brushes. Pastels. Pencils.
Paper. Paper. & more paper everywhere!
And it all needs to move to our "guest room,"
which will no longer be a guest room at all.

There is so much to do.
But I am hopeful we will soon have it all cleared out
and we can get started on making that room
a beautiful, fun place to welcome home our baby.
Boy OR girl!

I'll keep you posted friends!

XOXO
Aimee

Something Sweet, Yes Please...

It may be the pregnant lady in me,
but let's talk food.

I've had quite the sweet tooth these days.
And I am unapologetic about it.
I admit,
it was ME who ate every single last Gummy Bear in the bag . . .

Source

. . . and ME who ate the whole row of the Mother's Peanut Butter Gauchos.

If you ask me,
it's practically criminal that they make them so good.
Not my fault!

Other favorites as of late:
Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches

YUM! And only 150 calories!

OR
a coveted trip to Yogurtland for some
vanilla bean and strawberry frozen yogurt,
topped with fresh strawberries and gummy bears
and maybe a reeses or two, and and and!

Seriously. This place is amazing.

Travis has been incredibly understanding.
He can see by that look in my eye,
this is serious business.

Haha. Ok, Ok.
I realize I sound like a crazy pregnant lady.
And I'm not really going to deny that.

But let's be clear,
I'm not jumping on the fat train just yet.

Source
Woot woot!

In my defense,
I've only gained 2lbs. in my 16 weeks of pregnancy.
Because the reality is,
overall, I have been eating super healthy
and working out on the regular.

Running. Yoga. Spin Class.
You name it. I'm doing it.
And doing it 5-6 days a week.

I just recently broke down and purchased
the Tracey Anderson Pregnancy Project Work Out series.
9 months, 9 videos.
And let me tell you, that bitch be cray cray.

Travis laughs at me from the other room
while I'm mid-Tracey Anderson-work-out.

Somewhere around the 30 minute mark
he hears me saying things like:

"For real lady?"
Or
"You've gotta be kidding me!"
Or, my favorite,
"I swear if I do another leg lift, my ass is going to fall off!"

But it's all for good reason.
You see, I figure if I am going to be growing a huge belly,
I might as well have a great ass.
And I think Travis would agree.

So that's my plan.
Try to keep this bump in the front,
and keep everything else, well, where it should be.
I realize this is easier said than done,
and ultimately this baby will do what
it will to my body and I'll have to accept it.
(I'm sure that'll be a whole 'nother post.)

But for now, I'm setting goals.
And it's a big plus that what is healthy for me,
is healthy for baby too.
My doc is super proud of me.
Weight gain and work outs approved,
as baby is growing healthy and looking good.
She even said she wishes all of her patients were like me!
Hey! Thanks lady!

I think that deserves a reward. In chocolate!

I figure since I'm being "good" most of the time,
working hard to be healthy and active,
then by golly,
I am allowing myself the gift of a treat.
Or two. Or three. Or ten.
(And you are likely to find me giggling mid-bite.)

OK, I think we can all agree this is a bit overkill.

Long story short,
I'm eating sweets.
And no one can stop me.

Luckily it's close to Halloween,
which means candy will be abound.
Yay!

Have a sweet Friday readers!

XOXO

You're the One I Want

Chris & Thomas, You're the One I Want

I gotta say,
Travis has been a super duper awesome husband these days.
I mean, he's always been,
(see here for more on that)
but with this whole we're having a baby thing,
well, he has put his awesomeness into overdrive.

And I thought it proper to give him a big fat shout out
and a THANKS Babe!

We've been busy bees as of late,
and Travis has been especially helpful with all the house work,
yard work and getting this humble abode of ours baby ready . . .
. . . all the while making sure I'm eating healthy, getting in my exercise and rest.

We've been on clean up/donate/throw away mode all weekend,
and needless to say, planning space for a nursery is
all very exciting and overwhelming at the same time.

(We have a lot of, shall we say, stuff.)

Maybe this place will take our stuff!

But creating space for our baby is making it all feel very real.

Speaking of real,
our last ultrasound (12 weeks) was so fun to witness.
We got to see our baby move his/her little hands and feet!
And look at that profile!
What a difference from the 8 week ultrasound!

I think he/she has my nose!
How cute!  (I'm not biased.)

And if all that is not real enough,
we got to hear the baby's heartbeat last Friday!
It has to be the sweetest sound two soon-to-be parents can hear.
As soon as we heard it,
Travis popped up out of his seat and had the
biggest, sweetest smile on his face.
I don't know which was sweeter:
hearing the baby's heartbeat or looking at Travis' reaction to it.

I'm pretty sure my heart was ready to burst
right out of my chest at the sweetness of it all.

We find out if we are having a boy or girl next week!
NEXT WEEK!
(Haha, can you tell I'm excited?!)

It'll be so nice to be able to envision what we are having,
start planning decor for the nursery and
tackle the tough task of brainstorming baby names.

If it's a girl, name chosing will be cake,
as we have a pretty sure winner in mind.
But if it's a boy,
ohhhh we have our work cut out for us.
Sooo tough!!

But baby talk aside,
even though there is all this exciting stuff happening,
we are still managing to enjoy a little us time.

We attended a Shins concert a couple weeks ago.
(On a weeknight! GASP!)

We felt like such kids.

And it was sooo much fun!
Note: I can't help but think how awesome it is that our baby
got to experience a live concert via my belly.
And the Shins of all bands.
What a cool lil' baby! :)

We went to a Cirque de Soleil show in Hollywood.

We enjoyed a day out on a Duffy boat with some
friends in beautiful Newport Beach Harbor.

All the while taking time to enjoy the simple pleasures of daily life,
like sunset bike rides with the pups. . .

. . .  or watching our favorite HGTV classics
like House Hunters International . . .

. . . and catching ourselves saying things like,
"Can you believe they picked the overpriced three-bedroom condo in the 3rd
district with the dingy carpet and the crappy kitchen? Me neither!!"

Haha. We enjoy such trivial things.

But anyway,
my point, and I do have one,
is that I'm really glad I'm on this road with this man.
What a lucky gal.

We celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary a couple weeks ago,
and well, the love just seems to grow deeper.

Our wedding. Sept. 25th, 2008.

And all this good stuff just reminds me on the daily:
He's the one I want. He's the one I need.
And this little ditty by Chris and Thomas is my tribute to just that.

Happy Music Monday readers!

Cheers!

XOXO
