Cute as a Button

Big Bertha Button Ring on display.

I would by no means consider myself a jewelry-maker.  It was an old hobby of mine.  And more recently, an old hobby made new again.  My dear friend JoAnna and her adorable hubby, Jesse, opened up a shop called JjRowe in Downtown Long Beach’s East Village Art District.

316 Elm Ave., Long Beach, CA 90802  http://jjrowe.com
Their friend, Carlos, made this sign for them, which I think is pretty kickass.

This is JoAnna and Jesse in their shop.

Please note awesome car hood in the background.

The store theme is "For the man and his cool kids," and features what they affectionately refer to as mantiques, and gently worn vintage baby clothes.  They have everything from old shined up tackle/tool boxes, to stylish, worn work boots, motorcycle memorabilia, & industrial inspired furniture to one off baby onesies.

Tool boxes and the like alongside Hell on Wheels Triumph apparel.
This is all man.  All the time.

Motorcycle memorabilia for the diehard badass.

Boots. Get some.

Kids corner. Where the ‘cool’ is abundant. From kids cowboy boots & baby
moccasins to Misfits onesies & sassy jackets, this section is sure not to disappoint.

But the store would not be complete without a section for the ladies... or the “House Mouse,” if you will.  This section has such great finds such as vintage ladies gloves, boots, hats, purses, etc.

Here is where I come in.  JoAnna asked me to make some jewelry to sell.  Who me?

Yes. Yes. Me.
And so I got to work.  I’ve always been a sucker for jewelry… specifically, obnoxiously large rings and corky necklaces.  And I've always fancied a cute button.  So I decided to delve into my vintage button collection to make something unique and fun for the shop.
Vintage buttons made into rings. Button rings people.  They are adorable.  I also made some simple, fun necklaces and feather hairpieces while I was at it.
Here’s a sneak peek.

They’re all in the store now, so get in there and ch-ch-ch-check it out!
(See their webpage for store hours.)
Thanks to JoAnna and Jesse for the opportunity to have some fun with this.
Best of luck to the both of you with the new shop!

You guys are the best kind of people: as cute as a button and as badass as a biker.  XO
