Under the Weather

It's official, 

Kieran is in the midst of his first cold/cough in his almost 10 months of life.

I realize we have been very fortunate to 

have had a very healthy little guy up 'til this point, 

but it is still heartbreaking to hear his little snot-nosed cough.

It is the first of, I'm sure, many colds he will have over his lifetime, 

and in that sense, it's an initiation of sorts.

Like "Hey baby, life's not awesome ALL the time."

BUT we have been so lucky, that even when he is sick,

Baby Kieran is still an extremely happy baby, gracing us with his smiles 

and getting in some hearty play time in between long cuddly naps.

Eh, you didn't miss anything baby. 
It was pretty boring anyway.

I admit, we have been savoring the extra cuddle time.

With Kieran being so active these days 
(crawling & assisted walking galore!),

 it is a rarity that he wants to just sit on our lap, 

tuck his head under our chin and cling to us with his tiny hands...

his warm little body flush against ours.

It is the sweetest thing.

It makes us feel pretty special to know that, 
in that moment, we are the only thing he wants in the world.

Kieran, I'm honored to wipe the snot from your 

sweet little nose with the sleeve of my favorite shirt.

Absolutely honored.

Last night I rocked baby K to sleep,

and held him long after his eyes closed shut.

I listened to his breath and watched his chest rise and fall in the moonlit room,

and savored all the cuddling and warm fuzzy feelings that accompanied it.

Get better soon sweet baby... 

but feel free to continue all the snuggling!
